About Wirrina Cove
Some History
Wirrina Cove was developed in the 1970's as holiday resort located about 90 kilometres south of Adelaide. The resort was originally named by Holiday Village Co-operative Ltd, who likely sourced the name from Aboriginal words. Originally there was only the Resort, Golf Course and Caravan Park, then in the late 1980's a redevelopment began and the Marina and a residential area were added. Since this time Wirrina Cove continues to grow with more houses being constructed, not only has it become a place to relax it also is a place to call home for many.
The Golf Course
The course and club were first established in 1979 and rapidly became one of South
Australia’s favourite Golf and holiday destinations. The Wirrina Cove Golf Course is an
all weather 18 hole course on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. Set on 76 hectares
of undulating land with stunning views of Gulf St Vincent, and the Lower Mount Lofty
Ranges, The course offers a challenging yet fair round to all players from the
proficient to the beginner, with abundant bird life and kangaroos for company. Each
hole presents its own unique set of challenges with strategically placed bunkers and
water hazards that require careful club selection and precise shot placement.
The Golf Club
The Club was established soon after the Resort opened in 1979 and became one of South Australia’s favourite golfing destinations. Over the years Wirrina Cove Golf Club has been consistent in providing affordable membership, with no exorbitant joining fees or waiting periods. Wirrina Cove is a quality golf course which is playable year round and competitive in both individual
and corporate events. Our club offers range of membership categories to accommodate golfers from the avid to occasional, from low handicappers to those just starting out in the sport.
The club is administered by an experienced and enthusiastic Committee of volunteers who work closely with the owners of the course guaranteeing competition slots and social activities in an annual event calendar.
